Eligibility criteria

The programme is open to early career professionals (who have qualified within the last 5 years, calculated on a pro-rata basis) who are registered in regulated health and care professions, including:

With NIHR INSIGHT for Yorkshire & Humber, successful candidates will receive:

  • A funded place on an eligible masters programme to develop your research skills from the below list.
  • Funding which can be used as a contribution to backfill your clinical role, or can be taken as a tax free stipend.

We encourage applications from underrepresented and diverse groups and will consider applications through an equitable selection process. Both full and part-time programmes are on offer to ensure that the scheme is accessible to as many candidates as possible. We are only able to accept applications from UK-based candidates.

What options do I have if I am not eligible?

  • If you are interested in pursuing a PhD, the NIHR Pre-doctoral scheme is available to undertake masters levels modules and develop a competitive PhD application
  • If you are interested in research delivery, then you may be interested in the NIHR Researcher Credentialing Framework for PG Certs and Masters bursaries:  this is currently undersubscribed.
  • If you are unsure and would like to explore the opportunities available to you, then the Pre-Application Support Fund from NIHR is also available.
